Welcome to Along the Sound

This website is a collection of photographs, videos, stories, and reflections from a life that is slowly moving toward the Gulf Coast. It began years before the move itself, during the planning, dreaming, and countless conversations about what retirement could look like.

For me, retirement has never been about slowing down.

It's about having more time to notice the things that are easy to overlook.

A sunrise over quiet water. Pelicans gliding just above the waves. A winding trail through longleaf pines. Coffee on the porch while the dogs play in the yard. The sound of rain on the roof. An afternoon exploring with a camera, a kayak, or an e-bike. Finding a small restaurant that becomes a favorite. Watching the seasons change in a place that feels like home.

Those are the moments I want to remember.

Photography has been part of my life for many years, but Along the Sound is about much more than cameras. It's about using photography and video to tell the story of everyday life. Sometimes that story will be found on a quiet beach, sometimes deep in a state forest, sometimes around the house with our 2 dogs, 2 cats, and sometimes simply sitting with a cup of coffee reflecting on where life has taken us.

The name Along the Sound has a special meaning.

It represents the coastal waters that first inspired this dream, but it also represents the sounds that make a place feel alive—the wind through the pines, waves against the shore, birds at sunrise, frogs after a summer rain, music playing in the background, and the everyday moments that become memories without us realizing it.

This isn't a travel guide or a list of the "Top 10 Things to Do."

It's a visual journal.

You'll find photography, videos, home projects, nature, wildlife, food, kayaking, fishing, technology that supports the creative process, and eventually the story of building a new life on the Gulf Coast. Along the way, I'll share both the exciting moments and the ordinary ones, because I've come to believe that the ordinary days often become the ones we treasure most.

If something here inspires you to explore a nearby trail, pick up a camera, spend more time outdoors, or simply slow down for a while, then Along the Sound has done exactly what I hoped it would do.

Thanks for coming along for the journey.
