For the athletes among us, Rye has a robust recreational athletic community.  The Rye YMCA boasts two pools and an after-school program for school-age children as well as many exercise classes for adults.  The Rye Recreation Center features activities for seniors and sponsors many beloved events such as the annual Turkey Trot held the day after Thanksgiving.  There is a vigorous youth developmental and travel soccer program as well as recreational basketball offered to aspiring young athletes.  Many afternoons can be spent at one of seven baseball fields watching Little League games.

Downtown, the Rye Free Reading Room and City Hall flank the city green.  The library sponsors several children’s activities such as movie nights and pajama story hours.  Rye Art Center features a rotating gallery of art exhibits and special musical performances as well as providing music and dance lessons to children and adults of all abilities.  They also offer other art classes such as pottery, drawing and photography.
