Rye Neck

Let's Take a Walk

If you find yourself visiting Rye Neck on a warm summer day, you may want to make your first stop at the retro Carvel on Halsted Avenue, in Old Rye Neck, a short walk from the Mamaroneck Village train station.  On either side of the street you will find a unique collection of turn-of-the-century Victorian painted ladies with historic markers, Cape Cods, Salt Box Colonials and younger construction.  Pass by Florence Park and watch a pick-up baseball game or continue down the street to Bellows Elementary School and take a turn on the swings.  Cross over the Boston Post Road, and turn east at the entrance to peaceful Shore Acres, a deeded beach community of 200 homes, many large older homes, and over 125 acres that include a nature conservancy and shareholder’s club house for residents.  There you will find a pool, beach and boating facilities. Leaving the point of Shore Acres, we cross over into the City of Rye and enter Greenhaven.  Stately homes, waterfront estates, and contemporaries are tucked in beautifully landscaped properties on winding roads.
