Rye: 5th Annual Celiac Walk
5th Annual Celiac Walk
Colin Leslie's annual fundraiser for Celiac Disease will be held this Saturday, October 3rd, at Rye High School. This annual event, now in its fifth year, was organized by Colin (now a freshman at the University of Virginia) and has raised over $225,000 to fund research at the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University. Celiac disease is, very simply, a digestive disorder where the person cannot properly process gluten, an ingredient in many foods. Undiagnosed, this illness can cause many health problems such as weight loss, anemia, and osteoporosis.
Register for the Walk
To participate in the fundraising walk, visit Colin's website and sign up. The walk begins at 10 am at Rye High School and travels through local streets. There will be vendors at the high school selling gluten-free foods. Over 800 participants are expected.
