Change to NY STAR
There has been a change to the NY STAR. People whose incomes exceed $500,000 will no longer be able to claim the basic STAR deduction. This is based on 2009 tax returns and represents the combined income of all the residents in the home. Typically a Westchester homeowner might save $1,000 on property taxes because of STAR.
To review the STAR rules check out the NY state website.
