City of New Rochelle Recreation

It’s easy to be active and healthy in New Rochelle!  There are over 20 parks, many featuring lakes and trails with walking and riding paths and one welcoming dog lovers.  A full municipal recreational program for all ages includes paddle, tennis, lacrosse, soccer, football, baseball and softball.  Summer day camp is offered by the recreation department along with sports clinics and lessons.  The public marina has mooring for large and small boats and private clubs offer access to sandy beaches, golf and pools.

The New Rochelle Library offers popular lectures, a concert series and programs for adults hosted by well-known local personalities.  The delightful Children’s Library at Huguenot Park was formerly a landmarked home recently restored by private and public donations.  The property includes a large playground which accommodates special-needs children.

New Rochelle has a lively arts community and famous residents have included the writer EL Doctrow, whose novel “Ragtime” is set in New Rochelle; Norman Rockwell, whose house and studio still stand; Winton Marsalis, the trumpeter; and Ossie Davis, the actor.  Even fictional characters such as Laura and Rob Petrie of The Dick Van Dyke Show loved to call New Rochelle home!
