Mamaroneck Village

Let's Take a Walk

Get off the train at historic Mamaroneck train station after your 35-minute ride from Grand Central and head east, down Mamaroneck Avenue.  The area is a mixture of new residential condos and luxury rentals alongside retail establishments.  Hopefully, you are hungry because you’ll have a tough time deciding between pizza, Japanese sushi and gourmet French!  The avenue is famous for its ethnic grocery stores, coffee and tea houses, and specialty shops.  Look toward Palmer Avenue and see the Mamaroneck Library currently undergoing extensive renovation, alongside the award-winning Emelin Theater which brings performing arts to the community.

Now you’ve arrived at the Harbor. If it’s Spring you’ll enjoy the 150 cherry trees in bloom, while the Fall brings the vibrant color of soccer jerseys to the harbor-side fields.  Bordering the Harbor, find the neighborhood of Orienta with charming older as well as mid-century style homes on generous parcels, many of which have water views.  Before you leave Mamaroneck, check out the Heathcoate Hill area which overlooks the harbor from the Victorian porches and imagine the fireworks exploding over the Long Island Sound as they do every 4th of July!  Now you know why it is called the “friendly village.”
