Let's LearnThe Villages of Larchmont, Mamaroneck and the Unincorporated area are all served by the Mamaroneck Union Free School District. There are four neighborhood elementary schools (K through 5), one Middle School and one High School. The district, with the support of the community, has a long tradition of providing quality public school education in a nurturing environment. In addition to a comprehensive academic program, the system provides enrichment, accelerated, and remedial special education programs. There is a substantial commitment to cultural arts programs, including music, performing arts, and visual arts. Pre-K is offered at Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary. All district kindergarten classes are three full- and two half-days. Hommocks, the Middle school, has a student-centered educational philosophy with an emphasis on how to learn as well as what to learn. It is organized around team teaching within a house plan. Mamaroneck High School offers a wide variety of AP and honors classes. In addition, the school offers classes for college credit through Iona College. The Mamaroneck Tigers Varsity Baseball Team, has won the State Championship for the last years in a row. As well, the Girls Field Hockey team is ranked second in New York State! In addition to a wide variety of sports, the school has extensive an intramural athletic program. The Children’s Corner is an independently operated, district supported, before- and after-school child care program open to all district K-6 children. |
