Harrison / Purchase

Let's Take a Walk

Upon disembarking from Metro North Railroad in the village of Harrison, one will immediately realize that Harrison is a true “service” village.  Directly across the tracks is Heineman Place home to Town Hall, the Riis park/playground and the Sollazzo Recreational Center.  Slightly beyond sits the Harrison Public Library and the Rye Racquet tennis club.  There are two full-service supermarkets, a Japanese grocery, three pharmacies and countless bakeries, banks, beauty and barber shops, cleaners, dog groomers, fire station, florists, gas stations and car repair shops, post office, tailors, a widely popular Tai Kwan Do studio and the myriad of restaurants ranging from a creperie, delis and a multitude of delicious  pizza parlors, sports pubs, Japanese sushi and fine catering/dining for every taste and style.

If you follow Harrison Avenue to North Street, passing by the many Tudor and Colonial style homes, take a right turn on to Kenilworth Road which will lead you to Purchase Street, the heart of the Purchase community.  Walking past the entrance to Manhattanville College and just steps away from PepsiCo Headquarters and SUNY Purchase are the grand old estate homes that truly characterize the Purchase real estate landscape.  The Purchase Community House, home to the Purchase Day Camp and the Purchase afterschool programs will be on your right.  On the other side of Purchase Street is Westchester Avenue, home to Harrison’s “Platinum Mile,” headquarters of several major corporations including  Nine West and Starwood Hotels.

Continuing North on Purchase Street and turning left onto Barnes Lane to Lake Avenue to Underhill Avenue you will encounter the village of West Harrison.  Some of the highlights of the village are the Passidomo Veterans Memorial Park with its new state-of-the-art “zero entry” pool facility and multiple sports/recreational playing fields, the Leo Mintzer Community Center and the many specialty shops, dining and service establishments. Beautiful Silver Lake is visible from the downtown area and the Park Lane residential community is just minutes away.
